TCIA has a new look and feel including new branding and menu layouts.  TCIA now has added the option of accessing its Public Collections without having to login. You will find significant improvements to the user interface and search capabilities for TCIA.  Included are enhanced simple search, advanced search, and the addition of text search capabilities. Other improvements are in shared lists and annotation exports.

Clearer Menu Layout.

The MENU items are now found across the top of the page rather than the left margin. The functionality remains the same with the noted enhancements noted below. Once you have finished your SEARCH for images and have added them to your Data Basket, you then select “Manage Data Basket” from the menu bar in order to continue with your download. Previously you could access that function from an icon located on the search page.

Login no longer required.

You no longer have to login to TCIA to download data from Public Collections. It should be noted that if you do not login you will not be able to create Shared Lists, Create DOIs, Save Queries, or access the Limited Collections that you may already have been given access to. You may still login as usual to access those features or if you do not already have a TCIA account, you may register for one. To Search for images without logging on simply click the Search Images hyperlink from the TCIA Landing Page.

Redesigned Simple Search.

The NBIA Simple Search interface has been redesigned to provide rapid access to the most used criteria and functionality such as "add to basket." The search now provides instant access to search results.  Please note that when you first access the Simple Search Page that the space to the right of the search criteria will be blank. Once you select one or more search criteria, such as “Phantom” in the example below, the results will be populated. (Please note that the collection “Phantom” is just used as an example and does not exist in TCIA)

More Powerful Advanced Search.

The Advanced Search now makes it easier to quickly add, modify, and delete criteria. It provides instant results.

New Free Text Search.

A new Free Text Search now allows complete searching across the database fields, DICOM files, and annotation files from a single Google-like interface.

More Flexible Shared Lists.

Users can now delete shared lists that they create.

Export a table of Image Metadata.

Added new Export Image Metadata button to the My Data Basket page. Clicking this button exports the descriptions into a CSV file that is ordered by Collection, Patient ID, Study Date, Series Description, and Series UID. The CSV file includes all of the following fields in the output: Collection, Patient ID Study Date, Study Description, Modality, Series Description, Manufacturer, Manufacturer Model, Software Version, and Series UID.
